Victorian Turquoise & Diamond Crossover Ring
£850.00

This turquoise and diamond ring is a beautiful example of the Victorian love of symbolism; a rare and unusual jewel that feels at once tender and romantic. Set in warm 18ct gold, the band is adorned with a row of graduated cabochon turquoise, their bright blue colour set aglow against the gold. At the centre, the design shifts into an elegant diamond-set crossover motif, composed of old and rose cut diamonds that flicker with antique light. The effect is graceful; a meeting of sky-blue and candlelit white, softness and brilliance.

The crossover design carries romantic symbolism in nineteenth-century jewellery. Such motifs were often used to represent two lives intertwined, a visual expression of affection, union, or emotional closeness. Here, the intertwining diamond section seems almost to bind the turquoise stones together, creating a sense of continuity and devotion.

Turquoise itself was one of the Victorian era’s most cherished sentimental stones. Long associated with protection, faithful love, remembrance, and friendship, it was believed by some to guard the wearer from misfortune and to strengthen emotional bonds across distance. Its vivid blue also carried associations with ‘forget me not’ flowers. The diamonds deepen the symbolism; diamonds represented constancy, endurance, and truth, making them natural choices for jewels intended to express loyalty and lasting affection.

It is the band that makes this ring truly unique; the finely engraved scrollwork resembles waves curling along the shank, a nod to Art Nouveau design, adding another layer of refinement and giving the ring the undeniable grace and artistry of its era.

This heirloom ring was surely chosen with care, worn faithfully, and treasured for the meaning woven into every detail; it deserves to be treasured anew.
