Victorian Turquoise Blue Enamel & Pearl Locket Necklace

This Victorian 15ct gold oval locket pendant is decorated in a captivating turquoise blue enamel, scattered with delicate gold stars set with circular and beautifully irregular baroque split pearls. At its centre, a luminous pearl sits within a star shaped setting, giving the piece a celestial quality.

The reverse holds a glazed panel, traditionally intended to keep a tiny photograph, lock of hair or other treasured memento close to the wearer, adding another wonderfully sentimental element to the piece. It is suspended from a 9ct gold snake link chain, delicately spaced with seed pearls and finished with a barrel clasp engraved “Esme."
 
Pearls have long symbolised love and wisdom, while stars have traditionally represented hope, guidance and constancy. The distinct robin's-egg blue shade of the enamel mirrors the petals of the forget-me-not flower, which stand for true love and memories that outlast distance or death.
