Victorian Enamel Forget Me Not Ring
£585.00

This stunning Victorian forget-me-not enamel and pearl ring is hallmarked Chester 1880 and crafted in rich 15ct gold, and is symbolic of enduring memory and love. The black enamel face forms a regal backdrop upon which a delicate “Forget-Me-Not” flower is tenderly rendered in lustrous seed pearls. This symbolic bloom, often associated with eternal remembrance, is exquisitely centred within the design… a gentle whisper from the past, asking not to be forgotten.

The shoulders of the ring are adorned with intricate black enamel Greek key motifs, symbolising infinity and continuity, further echoing the themes of remembrance and an unbroken bond.
Inside the band, clear Chester hallmarks confirm the year of creation, grounding this sentimental piece firmly in the late Victorian era, when jewellery was rich with personal meaning. Romantic, evocative, and steeped in symbolism, this ring is more than adornment: it is a wearable relic of love and the cherished promise never to forget.

This flower most notoriously earned its name from a medieval legend, which tells of a knight gathering forget-me-nots for his lover, who fell into a river and drowned. As he fell, he threw the flowers to her, calling out 'forget me not!'

‘When I return in happier hour,
   And visit thy beloved cot,
Again we'll walk and pluck that flower,
   The Lover's flower—Forget-me-not.’

~ Mary Anne Browne, Forget Me No
