Victorian Cameo Drop Earrings
£550.00

A stunning pair of Victorian cameo drop earrings. Featuring beautiful 14ct gold leaves that descend into a tear drop cameo, each cameo carved with a downward hanging primrose flower and an elegant Grecian profile. The bottom of each tear drop is finished by more golden leaves and a delicate dangly tassel to add drama and movement. They have butterfly backs for pierced ears.

The primrose has historically been a symbol of youth and young love, and the carvings in this piece are delicately and beautifully rendered. The art of cameo carvings was perfected during the Renaissance, however cameo jewellery gained much popularity during the Victorian period. It remained a sought-after form of craftsmanship into the Edwardian period, and today remains a true testament to the elegance and craftsmanship of a bygone era.
